I have used moderate action steelhead rods rated at 10 lbs and 1/2 oz. for small river catfish rods with great results. Now I want to build heavier rods rated at 12 -15 lb 3/4 oz and 17-20 lb 1-1 1/2 oz. The steelhead blanks I have seen in that range have too stiff a tip to work efficiently in the streams I fish. I want 2 piece blanks that are 7 1/2 to 10 feet long. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Re: Stream channel cat rod

I'm not a catfisherman and know little about the equipment used. But from what you are saying I would think you should look at a 2 piece light surf rod similar to what most would use for light plugging. I know that Lamiglass offers some models either in fiberglass or graphite that would do the job. I'd take a look there or ask some of the sponsors on this site about them. Just sounds like they would be perfect for what you are after. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
