I have tried posting this 3 times. If they are posting I hope I'm not boring everyone.I am getting ready to build a rod with the New Concept System. This will be a 7'2pc casting rod> The blank I am using is a Rainshadow ISP843-F with a 17" grip. I have the following guides 4 BLAG6J, 1 each BLNAG10J,BLNAG12J,BUNAG7G, BUNAG8J and a BFAT6-5.0 tip. Any help with guide sizes,# of guides and spacing would be welcomed. Thanks, Steve French Re: New Concept Guide Help

The blank and your reel will tell you where the guides need to go and what sizes and heights you need. Nobody can give you the spacing as it will be unique to your blank and reel. On spinning rods the spool centerline will intersect the blank at some point behind the tip and that is where you begin. On a casting rod there is not really much to the system except to get your guide size down quickly and reduce weight as much as possible. I am not trying to put you off but others have explained the system and how to set it up much, much better than I can. I did get the back issue of Rodmaker and the July/August 2000 issue contains the best set-up info for the system that I have ever read. The casting installment was in an issue after that and I do not have it. I know there has been much discussion of the system on this board since I have been aware of it. Try using the search feature for New Guide Concept or New Concept and see what you turn up. Otherwise I am sure those well versed in the system will offer their advice shortly. Good luck. Here's what I use on casting rods. BLNAG12J, BLANG10J, BLNAG 8J, BLNAG 7J, BLAG7J and 4 BLAG6J's. I do not like the BUNAG bridge guides. The foot on these are too small and they come loose, even with a security wrap. I've gone to using double foots for the first four guides and the fly guides the rest of the way down. For spacing, Mike is correct you need too play with it. If it's a fine tipped casting blank start with this. Starting from the tip go 3", 3.5", 4", 4.5, 5.25, 6.25, 7.5, 9 and 11. Do a static deflection test and test cast with the reel that will be used on it. Adjust from there. Good luck. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
