Is there any difference between Quick Gip and standard electrical shrink tubing? Manhattan Custom Tackle used to carry Quick Grip, but Phil's no longer around. Who carries it now? Thanks Phil Re: Quick Grip vs. Shrink Tubing

I may be wrong but I think Merrick has it and some good info sheets on various ways to use it. You can make wraps with nylon cord underneath it to create a better gripping surface. I can't find shrink tubing in very large sizes. This stuff Merrick has come in big diameters. Re: Quick Grip vs. Shrink Tubing

William, I think you're correct about Merrick. I forgot. I have seen electrical heat shrink tubing up to 1.5" at AllElectronics.com. It's cheap also ($5 for 4'). I'm just not sure if it's the same material as Quick grip. I guess for $5, I'll find out. Re: Quick Grip vs. Shrink Tubing

Actually, they have it up to 2". But I still wonder if it's the same thing. Anyone? Re: Quick Grip vs. Shrink Tubing

Quick Grip is thicker and has a better feel to it than the stuff from All Electronics. I use both; QG for actual grips (primarily over nylon twine) and the AE stuff for finishing off cork tape or to cover a trolling rod butt to protect it from rod holders. To me the stuff from AE is not suitable as an actual gripping surface. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
