I would like to build a light weight surf casting rod to accomodate an ABU 5500 Mag elite CT. I want to cast lures from 1/2 oz lures up to a bait and weight to 2 oz. I want to keep the rod as light as possible and be able to achieve maximum distance. I would prefer a 9 ft blank but think I could use up to a 10 footer. I am looking for suggestions for a blank. I would like to keep the blank price under $100. Thanks.

Lamiglas, GSB1081L looks to be just what you are looking for, however, I think the price is around $130.00. I think you would be very pleased with this blank for your purpose.

I was going to suggest the Loomis SU1083 but I am not sure if they make those anymore. Have not seen their new blank program.

Rainshadow SW1087 should fit the bill for you. Looks great in the matte finish and should be under the $100.00 mark. Check out Richards or Bingham on the left! Also the rainshadow link will give you a complete listing of blanks.
