Looking for feed back on rubber gimbals. I am building a live bait rod and thinking about trying one. i usually do not use fighting belts but want a gimbal to keep the from twisting in the holders.

thank you in advance

As you know the bulb shaped rubber gimbals are more comfortable and versatile than the nylon or metal ones if the rod is going to spend time also without a fighting belt. The downside is they aren't as positive locking on the pin. Spiral wrapping your rods will cure the rod flipping in the holders also.

Check the Alps rubber gimbal from Batson, available through Utmost Enterprises. Not your plain jane gimbal.

I've had a few tear over the years but they are awsome, very comfortable and the main reason I use them over fighting butts is to lock in the boats rod holders otherwise they want to spin and bounce around.

I use rubber gimbals on all my inshore rods. Those things are awesome.
