Starting to expand into off shore rods and I’m curious if aluminum offers better durability, enough to where you should consider it at a certain lb test over graphite. If so, what is that threshold? Re: Aluminum vs Graphite Reel Seats

Hello Ken.
For me it's 30# class and up. Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines. Bob, New Bern, NC. Re: Aluminum vs Graphite Reel Seats

For my builds,I personally use graphite to 50#,depending on the intended usage. 60# and up,get aluminum seats. Re: Aluminum vs Graphite Reel Seats

I'm more inclined to do what Chuck does, the only caveat is reel clamps, get to carried away with clamp pressure without support built under the area on a graphite reel seat and you can collapse them faster than aluminum seat. Re: Aluminum vs Graphite Reel Seats
