If wood makes an efficient grip for a fish pole then cork should make a good ball bat. Hey, it's called logic!

Wood has it's place. For years it excelled for boat rod butts, and still can. It's firm and smooth and therefore slides in and out of rod holders easily. For general grip use, it can be cored which reduces the weight to about the same as most of the exotic type corks.

Baseball bats have wooden handles, your logic suggest baseball bats should have cork grips. Not a bad idea, it would provide a better shock absorbing grip.
