Hi everyone,
Im looking for some advice for finding a good 9'0" rod blank. I have a friend who wants a 9'0" rod made but I have never built one this long. So I need advice on good affordable blanks. My friend wants a rod for dragging bottom bouncer and live baiting. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Re: 9'0" rod blank

lot's of techniques called bottom bouncing that are not the same thing, walleye vs salmon for instance. Is it for walleye? Re: 9'0" rod blank

Yes, he will be using the rod for walleye fishing. Re: 9'0" rod blank

For this sort of fishing, the easy blank to obtain is one of the excellent Salmon blanks on the market.
For example, these are all excellent blanks in your choice of weight and power: [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com] Certainly with a 9 foot rod to be used in a boat, you would want to build at least a 2- piece rod. ============= Here are the RX7 blanks which are less expensive but are still excellent blanks. Several 9 foot blanks available in these blanks for your application. [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com] For the use of your friend for walleyes with the methods suggested, I would likely go for a medium light rod --- but if your friend was using weights over an oz, then I would go with a medium action rod. With the 9 foot length, the blank can carry more weight than one might normally associate with a shorter rod. p.s. When the fish are really timid about biting, I have used the light or ultra light version of this 9 foot rod with a single split shot, a #8 hook and a lively leech to hover over some inactive fish and drop the leech on their noses to get one to bite. Not a rod for moving fast, but a good if fishing a pod of negative fish with light line and light hooks and bait. Good luck Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/20/2018 02:17PM by roger wilson.
