Guides first or butt wrap

When I first learned how to do what we do, I was taught to do the butt wrap last. I have always done it that way. It seems that the less I handle the rod the more the wrap stays in place. Also, it's easier to tie the guides and decide the wrap later. I am doing the fourth rod of my "rebirth" (I hadn't made any fishing rods in about 30 years but now retired) Out of curiosity, what is your preference?

Tony,
I start from the butt of the rod. Do, the butt wrap and hook keeper and any extra at the butt of the rod.
Then, I go to the stripper guide and on up to the tip.

I use a power wrapper and really don't touch the rod at all during a wrap - so to speak so handling is not an issue.

Good luck

Tony
My preference.

I wrap by hand and start at the butt and work my way to the tip. I start with the butt wrap, hook keeper then the butt guide and end at the tip.

Good fishing

John

Both will work. I go from the bottom to top just for the flow.
