it looks like raw carbon with no coating at all on the blank , it is light an feels good I just don't know how it will hold up over time , I am use to a paint of some type on a blank, after spending good money on a blank I just don't know ?? any input on it William Sidney AK Re: North fork composites fly rod guide sizing & spacing

It does not need any coating. In fact, in such cases, it is usually the coating, not the carbon fiber, than eventually wears.

Michael, I opted to attempt the static load test with the guide spacing I planned to use (after having already wrapped the stripper guides). Here is the picture of that, it is my first attempt at using the static load for checking guide placement. I had to use the manual focus and focus fringing to get the rod and line as the focal point. Alright I had to figure out how to upload a photo (it required a 2nd registration, instructions were in the sticky). Here is the picture of the rod taken today.
Herself held the rod while I snapped a few photo's. You can decide if the guide spacing I previously stated looks good for your build.
