Has anyone out there built both the Northfork hm mb705 & 706? I only have experience with the 705. Any feedback would be awesome.

Thanks
Tom

Hello Tom,
To this date, this is one of if not the finest blank I have fished with or built on. I built on the 706 with spiraling micro guides and a carbon fiber handle and I am constantly amazed at how perfect it is. Perfect for soft plastics and Texas rigging. I have no experience with the 705 unfortunately, so I can't compare there, sorry. I can say the 706 has a good amount of power with a soft enough tip for hook sets with a single hook. I don't know if I would use it for yanking bass out of cabbage but works well in moderate cover and for a MH blank. Like I said before, it's the best I have fished with. Hope this helps.

Larry, I have a couple of the hm 705’s and feel just as you do about the 706!! Mine are both built in a similar manner as your 706. I love the 705 I just wish I knew the 706 would offer more power than the 705. They say the 706 is based off the glx 2000 which used the mb843 the same blank they say the hm705 is patterned after... see my confusion? To add to it the specs say the 706 has less power... maybe Alex from Northfork can shed some light on this

Thanks
Tom

I don’t get how the mb709 is modeled on the mb844 but the 709 is rated 3/8-2 oz

That is what they say but I have had a few of these that I have built and they are by no means the same as the mb844’s that I have handled from loomis. It is a nice blank but not a replacement for the loomis 844.
