I have a rod repair question. I have a rod that a tip top broke off with a little bit of the rod blank. Can a person cut the blank down to the next guide and epoxy it? Or will that not work Re: Rod Repair Question

It will work, but the rod will be, in my opinion, altered in action and power too much. Better to use the repair procedure in the library, link above, and repair it that way. It will fish so close to its as-new condition, you probably will not notice a difference. Re: Rod Repair Question

If you were to cut as little as possible from the remaining tip just to eliminate any fraying and put a new tiptop on, how far would it be from the 2nd guide? Re: Rod Repair Question

Brandon,
Since only a very small bit of the rod broke off, just clean up the end, and put a tip on the new end of the rod. You may have to go to a slightly larger tip top tube if the end of the blank is a touch larger. Good luck Re: Rod Repair Question

Roger is right if the break is within an inch or so from the tiptop, more than that I recommend the sleeve repair method. Re: Rod Repair Question
