Foredom Foot Pedal Conversion

I just finished converting my Pac Bay foot pedal over to a Foredom. Very noticeable difference! Loving it so far. If you decide to do this, here are the steps I did to convert this unit.

1) Obviously disconnect all power sources.
2) Cut the wire that goes to your old Pac Bay pedal right at the pedal.
3) Open up the new Foredom pedal. There's one phillips screw with a washer on the underside. Once that screw is out, gently separate the foot pedal from the housing - it's just a couple of small plastic tabs holding it in place.
4) Cut all the wires coming out of the switch. Try and keep them a couple inches long or so.
5) Remove the two power wires from the housing. The grommets will need to be pried off with a flat screwdriver. Throw these wires in your electrical parts box - they're not required.
6) Attach your old cord to the switch. You may want to put an over hand knot in the cord on the inside of the housing because the old grommets are a bit big to hold this cord from pulling out. Alternatively, build up the cord with some electrical tape where it leaves the housing. The wires need to connect to the black wires on the switch. No polarity here so just go ahead and pigtail one of your old foot pedal wires to one of the black switch wires and the other old foot pedal wire to the other black wire. The two white wires can be cut short and left. They no longer do anything.
7) Place the switch back in it's pocket, reinstall the plastic foot pedal, put the screw back in on the underside - don't tighten all the way! This screw is an adjustment for if you wanted a constant speed out of the pedal. You'll want to tighten it until the pedal just barely makes contact with the switch.
8) Plug in as before and you should be good to go!

Hope this helps,
Brian

Hurrah and thanks!

Methinks the days of course language directed to the standard foot pedal are about to end.

Brian,
10-4 on the conversion.

Yes, this is a very good upgrade to the standard pedal that is sourced with some wrappers.

Good luck

Thank you Brian!

After all these years, are you still finding this pedal to work or have you upgraded to something better?
