What is the best way to install these? If using tape arbor, how many do I need? (10inch butt) This is my first time using these and due to there cost I may use more of them. I am using these on ATX 6 foot, medium heavy, blanks. They are going to be used for striper fishing in the Chesapeake Bay. Any help is appreciated. Re: Installing a nylon smooth butt

John,
Put an arbor of your choice on the butt of the rod. Then, use plastic gluing epoxy to glue the smooth butt to the arbor and you will be good to go. A good choice here: [www.homedepot.com] Check the package on the glue to be sure that it is made to glue up plastics and nylon. Good luck [www.homedepot.com] Re: Installing a nylon smooth butt

Build many slick butts on ATX blanks. Masking tape or Drywall tape, and then glue the ever loving @#$%& out of it!! Make sure there is contact at the bottom, middle, and top of the slick butt. Capt. Craig Freeman Grading Scales Sportfishing and Back River Rods Re: Installing a nylon smooth butt

Any two-epoxy will work just fine. You don't need a lot. Properly sized and prepped mating surfaces count for a lot more than just pouring a bunch of adhesive into a joint.
Drywall tape makes good arbor material. You may be able to source the brick foam type arbors in a size large enough to do the job. ................ Re: Installing a nylon smooth butt

Hello John.
As Tom says any two part epoxy will work, I have been using U-40 Rod Bond for years with the tape then later with the arbors. Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines. Bob, New Bern, NC. Re: Installing a nylon smooth butt

Yup Tom is right they will all work but prepping thew joining surfaces is necessary I would make sure that the id of the grip is roughed up enough to give a solid bond other than that there is nothing more to add The best day to be alive is always tomorrow !! Think out side the box when all else fails !!! Wi. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
