White Perch build

I got my dad a nice 7' UL spinning rod and Shimano 1000 reel last year for father's day. He had just bought a camp on a lake that's primarily white perch (or sac au lait, or crappie, whatever you would like to call them). He tried using it, but he didn't accurate with the spinning reel and felt the 7' rod was too long for getting under trees, etc. So, back to the Zebcos he went.

On to my question. How does this sound for a build? Pistol grip is what he likes, not going to argue with him there.

Fuji KW 10
Fuji KW 5.5

You must be from the South, they call crappie white perch down here. I assume you mean KB/KTs as runners. This will work great for what he wants. If you wanted a little lighter guide train could try the Minima4 T10, T6, followed by F4 or F3 runners, and a matching FM micro tip top. Since the Minima guides do not contain a ceramic insert, the size 3 guides have an ID that’s as large, if not larger, than the KB/KT4. I like using the Minima 4 guides on UL to L Rods. Use the Fuji KRs on more powerful rods.

Born and raised in Eunice, LA. Live in Katy, TX now. On the Pac Bay guides, I'm looking for the Minima Casting Guides Model T and the Minima Fly & Running Guides Model F, correct?

Didn't get any really good photos of this rod, but followed your advice and went with the Minima guides. Here are some pictures with the fish we caught in the tournament.
