Hi guys,

I've built on a hand full of the MHX ST1562 steelhead float blanks. I do like them for a couple reasons. They do hold up nicely when fighting ontario steelhead. And they're cheap.
MHX isn't very well known around here and I'm being asked about my builds when Im on the river. So i've been trying to school myself online about MHX so I can deliver any questions one may have for me when I'm out slayin' bows.
One question I cannot seem to find the answer too is what Modulus is this particular blank? The MHX website only says "multi-modulus materials". Does anyone here have a more detailed modulus answer for me? Would be comparable to an IM6?

The modulus isn't that important, how the rod works is. That said multi-modulus usually means they use a mid modulus material ( IM material ) in the tip area where durability is more of an issue and there isn't a lot of material being used, this keeps the weight difference between materials within reason. They use IM and higher modulus materials in the butt where stiffness, weight, etc. Is most noticable and durability is less of an issue due to the thickness and mass of the butt construction. A lighter, more durable rod is the result.
Lamiglas, Rainshadow, lots of manufacturers use this type construction for better than a decade. Some advertise it's use, some use it probably and say nothing, makes a lot of sense to me.
Most don't understand modulus, or for instance that IM9 material has a lower modulus than IM8, and is very similar to IM7. They think a higher number always means higher modulus. Some advertise IM 10 material, though I've never seen it listed in a Hexcel catalog, so what is it?

I don't know, personally I think it is important to know how the blanks are constructed i.e. modulus etc. For me, it's better to fully understand the product especially if you are trying to be knowledgeable with a potential client. it seems to be a question that comes up with guys that are thinking of getting a custom built. probably because most guys I have talked with have never looked into MHX, and the modulus is how they compare it to different blanks they may have some basic knowledge about.
