First thanks to everyone who contributes financially and with knowledge. Im about to build my first rod a medium action spinning rod for shaky heads, small jigs. What size thread is common for wrapping your guides and decorative wraps in the butt section, I went with the microwave guides if that helps any. I m sure I have probably read it somewhere but my brain is on overload with everything Im learning from this board.

Size A would my choice. It's a little tougher to see while wrapping, but I think it looks much better as a finished product. Depending on thread color size D shows each individual thread, while size A almost looks painted on.

Since you are a beginner D is the easiest to use for guide wraps yet still yields a good looking wrap. Size B is a very good comprize easier to wrap than A but looks just as good when finished. For decorative butt wraps most use Madeira embroidery thread which is approximately the size of A. Madeira thread comes in a myriad of colors but since it is an embroidery thread you must use color preserver before applying the epoxy finish.

A would be my choice. I use it on every rod I make, regardless of size of rod.

A would be my choice. But be willing to accept mistakes and cut it off and try again. D would be more forgiving but I think in the long run you'll be happier with A.
