I'm building a few new ice rods, and it looks like these are the hands down favorite. Any thoughts on the fiberglass extreme taper blanks? I want to build some deadsticks for walleyes, and I'm wondering if the fiberglass models will get it done, or should I go with graphite? Re: SDI extreme taper blanks

I have been using the extreme taper blanks a lot I really like the feel and the action. I have used them for trout, perch, crappie and walleye. Re: SDI extreme taper blanks

yeah if you're not to sure look up @#$%& blanks he has some good blanks too I just got my order last week getting set to start building them this weekend. DH Customs had some really nice blanks also I have built a few on his blanks and have had no complaints about them either Re: SDI extreme taper blanks

Any more, for nearly all of my ice rod builds I have been using solid fiberglass blanks.
The reason is the better softer tip action that I want for most of these rods as well as the extreme taper which gives plenty of beef in the butt section for working a fish. The fact that these blanks are typically less than $5 each is all right also. Good luck. Re: SDI extreme taper blanks

For "dead sticks" fiberglass blanks have a softer flexing tip to avoid spooking fish. SDI also sells rods built on the blanks they sell and those have a more complete description of their uses that can be helpful in choosing a blank. The 34 or 48" blanks would be good dead stick choices and can be trimmed from the butt if you want something shorter. Re: SDI extreme taper blanks

Thanks guys. I ordered a couple different glass ones and a graphite model. Can't miss for the price. Re: SDI extreme taper blanks

I use that blank for that exact purpose. Great tool for the job. See you on the water, Doug Captain Paddlefoot Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
