Getting close to finishing this build. Guides are wrapped (half double foot/half single). Tip top has been installed with glue but not happy with its alignment. Off just a bit. I'd like to re-position the tip top. Is it best to heat it , pull it off , perhaps put a little more glue and install again or warm it up while on blank and re-position. I'm thinking the latter but want to see what you guys would do. Any concerns for the glue bond weakening after repeatedly heating it up. II will align the guides a little better after getting the tip top positioned correctly. Thanks, Mark Re: Tip top reinstall

Hello Mark.
You say you installed it with "GLUE", what kind of glue? Tip top cement can be heated and readjusted but I would be leary of doing that with Epoxy Glues. Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines. Bob, New Bern, NC. Re: Tip top reinstall

I never use epoxy for installing tip tops, makes it more difficult to remove them. Use tip top cement as mentioned by Bob,

Our tip top adhesive works great and is easy to re-position or remove with heat. Strong enough for big offshore rods...

That is a "hot melt" type adhesive. Epoxy is different in that two parts react chemically and re-heating will not work. You are, in my opinion, using the right stuff. Removing or re-aligning a tip top that is glued with epoxy is a real challenge. Since you used the right stuff, reheating gently is the way to go, no problem. Since you are a newbie, you may not realize how little heat is needed. Just a few seconds on the edge of a lighter and it will be loose enough to re-align.
