I'm doing my first real build this winter and I just got all my components in yesterday. I bought a MHX Mag Bass 6'6" rod, split casting grips, and I figured since I was gonna build it my self might as well try out the micro guides Ive been hearing so much about, so I got the Fuji Micro Guide 10 pc set (6mm stripper, 5mm transition, and 4mm runners). After seeing just how small these are and it being my first build I was wondering if there are any tips anyone has about them. Ive wrapped some guides two years ago, but those were larger spinning guides on a small rod.
Any help or advice would be nice. Thanks Re: First Real Build

Nothing wrong with ATC Micro and a lot to like. And they can work for acid or spiral wraps. Wrapping the small running guides is a challenge for those of us with old, shaking hands. The good news is the Flex Coat, white stick, guide adhesive is just the trick to hold the guides in place until you get a couple to three turns of thread up the guide foot toe. Re: First Real Build

If your eyes aren't too bad they are actually easier to wrap. You usually don't have to grind the feet and the wrap is short. You may need magnification like higher power readers or a magnified light ring. I use narrow pieces of masking tape that I cut from a piece of larger tape to hold the guide in place. They only need to be about 2" in length. Re: First Real Build

I like to use these to hold the guides. [www.mudhole.com]
You can get them at other places as well. They are dental bands Re: First Real Build
