Got a BP 86400 blank to build out for big baits targeting stripers and musky. The blank is listed as "telescoping". The upper part fits into the lower part - think traditional ferrule in reverse. This is my first experience with this type of blank.
Problem is there is some wiggle in the joint. it goes in and gets tight but when the rod loads up, you can feel the upper section hitting the inner wall of the lower section. I really think it should be snug for several reasons. First would be wear and tear that could cause failure over time. The second would be just the aggravation of feeling the wiggle and looseness when the rod is being fished. What can I do to shore it up and make it snug? Any ideas would be appreciated. It should fit snug... I am guessing you bought this from Mudhole as they were closed out... Please contact them about a replacement. _______________________________ God Bless, Don Morse 800-516-1750 ext. 1207 / don@americantackle.us Rod Building..... It's What We Do. Edited 1 time(s). Hi Charlie
I run Marketing and Sales at Mud Hole. Sorry to hear about your blank issue. The rod blank in under American Tackle warranty. If you did get it from us, we would be happy to help coordinate that warranty claim with American Tackle. BTW - If you did get it from Mud Hole on closeout, the fact that it was on closeout does not mean it should have any defects in it. Re: American Tackle Bushido blank build

How "tight" are you pulling it when extending?
Is is like a "ferrule", the tapers need to be firmly joined to assure good contact. Also, I feel it is a good idea to put a "plug" in the open "female" end of the tip section before building. Helps keep it "round" when under load. We always check the amount of "overlap" before assembling also, just to be sure.
