I need a size 24 casting reel seat for a heavy catfish rod. Allways could use a 22 or smaller trigger before, but now I have to go bigger. All advice will be appreciated. Re: heavy reel seat for catfish rod

Hello Don.
I've looked at my mags and none of them had Trigger seats in a 24 or larger. I have some 22's but no 24's. Size 24 spins are available at most of the sponsors on the left that carry seats. How far into the butt are these fish going to bend the blank? If they are going to bend deep into the but (Past the Seat), I would recommend the graphite seats because they will flex where an aluminum seat will not and could hurt your blank. Thanks, Would the Fuji dpsh pair well with a 6500 size reel? Do you know a better option? Re: heavy reel seat for catfish rod

Hello Don.
The DPSH are the old "Boat Rod Reel Seat" and I don't have one here, I do have the H.P.S.-24 and the FPS-D24G both work well with my SHIMANO 6500 BAITRUNNER. I see no reason why a 6500 reel would not fit in a DPSH-24 seat. I build almost all saltwater, spinning or heavy, the few smaller seats I have are for trout, blue fish, or Spanish mackerel and my SHIMANO 6500 BAITRUNNER fits into any of them down to size 18 seats, anything smaller will not fit and some of the 18's are tight. Hope that helps. Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines. Bob, New Bern, NC. Re: heavy reel seat for catfish rod

If you do not need a "trigger", you then have many choices of Saltwater seats.
We do not usually use a trigger on rods with revolving spool reels for bigger fish, the foregrip is where most find better leverage.
