Gonna build using a CTS vapor blank 11' rated 60-105 gms. I plan on using a 6K gosa and throwing lures in that range or a little lighter with 20-30 lb braid. Targeting mostly stripers/blues along the NE coast but will travel to NC, FLA as well. I've only built a handful of rods so forgive me if this a rookie question but can use single foot K guides or should I use double foot,

I use Double Foot Guides, Mostly Fuji "K" Guides. The are light and Strong to Stand up to the Abuse of fishing the Surf. I do not think there is a Style of fishing that put more abuse on a rod then surf fishing SAND,WAVES ,ROCKS, Fishing on jetties.

You can start out with a Double and go to singles if you like. Most of the Surfrods i build are used for throwing Bait here in South Jersey. We do not have the Structure of some of the northern states

Sure you can but i agree with Barry , start with a few doubles then go to singles , an all single foot train on an 11 footer for the surf is quite uncommon as iv'e never seen one set up like that but sure it would work. How it will hold up over the long term with the rigors of surf fishing i can't say.

Travel ??? don't forget to be able to put it in the car/TK. , 2 section will help a lot ,

CTS is a nice blank. I would build this with Titanium KW's (all the way) to reduce component weight and keep strength to take advantage of the blanks construction. Or, drop my running guide size to 6 or 7, go stainless, and keep the double foot all the way out.

Thanks all for the good advice. Makes good sense to go with double foot guides and will use titanium KWs as you suggested Jim. I'm trying to get specs from cts to do a similar build. What size would you recommend for running guides? Again using 20-30 lb braid to perhaps swivel or pr knot or Alberto knot to 30-50lb leader. Plan on using KR concept for placement.
