I recently made a rod that has a reel seat that is 1/4" off line with the guides.(I must have been tired).It1s a graphite reel seat. If I can loosen the adhesive with a heat gun and straighten it out, will the adhesive rebond securely. I1m trying to get away with losing the seat and rear grip. Re: reel seat off center

I don't think the epoxy will re-bond very well, could be wrong some one with more knowledge that I chime in on it -+ William Sidney AK Re: reel seat off center

Unless the blank has a noticeable curve which would show when sighting down the blank, why not just re wrap the guides?
Seems like it would be a lot easier than trying to rotate a reel seat. And you wouldn't have to worry about the integrity of the seat's bond to the blank. Re: reel seat off center

Epoxy isn't "hot melt." If you are able to break the bond, that's it. The bond is broken. It will not re-set when it cools.

Peter,
Cut off the guides and rewrap the guides. Leave the reeel seat alone. The other thing that you could do, would be to cut off the first two guides and readjust each one just a bit. Rewrap those two guides and recoat and you will be good to go. Good luck Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
