All, Can anyone help me with a couple questions on building an acid wrap rod
1. Spline, up or down from reel seat 2. what degrees or how many guides to make the 180 degree change? Like every 30,45,60,90 degrees? what do you think is best. 3. Ideal length. I will use mainly on boat Thanks everyone "Bent rods to ya" Darrel Re: acid wrap questions?

1. Spine doesn't matter.
2. I use the Simple Spiral that uses no transition guides. You go from 0 to 180 in about 9 or 10 inches. The line passes by the side of the blank. You can add a guide halfway between those just to keep the line off the blank if you wish. 3. Length depends on what type fishing you're doing. I do some crankbait trolling and live bait fishing and most of mine rods for such are about 7 feet to 7-1/2 feet long. ............. Re: acid wrap questions?

Hello Darrel.
I'm with Tom on the Spine & the Simple Spiral, but most of my fishing is salt and my rods run from 5' to 8' depending on what I am fishing for that trip, troll, float, anchor or jig... Tight Wraps, & Tighter Lines. Bob, New Bern, NC. Re: acid wrap questions?

I'm also in on the simple spiral. Works great. Re: acid wrap questions?

The transition can be made in either direction. I choose the direction that will have the transition guides up when the rod is placed on the deck with the reel handles are up. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
