Loose real seat

Found an old Ted Williams Sears Roebuck rod at a yard sale for a dollar. Nothing special but I thought it would be fun. When I was at home I found that the reel seat is loose, spins al the way around.. Does any one have any tips how to secure it again with taking the whole thing apart?

Thanks.

Drill a couple small holes, inject structural epoxy, not wrap epoxy. Some old less expensive rods had cardboard shims. Make sure you can feel the epoxy "grip" after you inject to be sure you're on both sides of any shims in there.

Drew,
The very best idea is to remove the butt grip, remove the reel seat. Reglue the reel seat and arbor if necessary and then install a new butt grip.

Good luck

Does the rod have foam or cork grips?

Cork grips, pretty worn and slick.

Thanks all, I’ll give drilling a couple holes a shot.

Drew if you use the liquid epoxy , TURKEY baster for basting is great to inject it [ clean with D.A. first ] can get them in most places that sell TURKEY FRYERS .,
what I use , it is the cheep fix, you can remove seat [more work] an redo it , it is up to you

If you choose to repair, you might want to add a Winn Grip tape job to it when you've successfully tightened up the grip. It won't be slick any more.
