McFarland Fly Rod Blanks

I just acquired 3 McFarland fly rod blanks from a guy who is no longer interested in rod building- blanks are labeled as follows;
Emerger 905-2
Emerger 906-2
Guide 965-2
They appear to be very nice blanks. I did a quick Google search but I didn't come up with much information on McFarland blanks. Any ideas on construction materials, quality, value, interest would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Daniel,

At one point, Lamiglas made some McFarland blanks. I don't know if it was a regular run, or just some test blanks, but they were good quality. Not sure what modulas.

Chris

McFarland is a master rod designer and maker in PA.

The web site is www.mcfarlandrods.com. Email is mike@mcfarlandrods.com.

McFarland is a custom blank and finished rod shop. Send Mike an email or give him a call to determine exactly what you've got.

Best bet is to contact Mike personally, he has been rolling his own glass and graphite for about the last 10 years, but he has been building rods for longer. Early on, I remember him telling me CTS did some of his blanks.

Age of those blanks is going to tell you if Mike rolled them or he had someone else make them for him, and only he may be able to answer that.

Mike does have skills when it comes to rolling graphite and glass, and he is no slouch when it comes to a build. His stuff is top shelf, and when we was buying blanks to build out, he did use quality blanks.

Anglers Workshop is now carrying some of his glass.
