Finishing a multi layered wrap

Evening all,

New guy trying to hone my skill. I have searched the forums using “finishing a wrap” and “Thread wrap” and have not found the answer.

My question, once I complete my wrap, say reverse chevron. I start my finish wrap to cover the “trimmed”edges, how do I get a nice even wrap, or to lay down? My finish wrap looks like the Rocky Mountains.i amusing Fuji “D” thread for all of the wrapping.

I found the below, but still not getting a good even layer.

Thank you

Trim threads a few at a time, not all at once. Every few turns of tie-off thread, trim a few more of the pattern threads. I covered this in the book I did for Amato with photos. The idea is to taper the area you're wrapping over.

Michael,
Also, you will find that you have a much more level wrap if you do your pattern wrapping with A thread, rather than D thread. Smaller diameter thread means smaller hills and valleys in the wrap.

Good luck
