MHX float rod

Hi guys,

I'm in the midst of building a 13' - 3 piece float rod MHX blank. Never built on this specific blank before. I obviously found the spines and have the rod set up for a static test. After pulling to tip guide with some downward pressure I've noticed that where the top piece and middle piece connect, the natural bend in the rod straightens out quit a bit... probably 10". It looks really weird to me. I like a nice consistent bend and it's bugging me. I thought I would throw it out there to anyone that has built on this blank and has noticed the same thing. I'd like to make sure this is normal before I go ahead with the guide placement. Maybe it's normal? Maybe not. But I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks
Scott

Not sure anyone has ever said a ferrule won't effect the blank visually, just that they, when done right, won't apreciably effect performance. Not seeing the bend profile I can't give an opinion on what you have.

There are different ferrule designs. Some flex across the junction better than others. One thing to think about, is locating a guide on or near the center of that flat area - this may create a more uniform flex when loaded.

Thanks guys

Sounds like it's pretty normal, guess it was a bit of a newby question but I just wanted to make sure.
