Hi guys I'm in a blanks qualifying stage to build a two-piece light spinning surf rod to fish from the beach and the piers, with the following features:
Length: 9 '- 10' Action: Fast Lure weight: 1/2 - 2 oz. Used lure type: casting Jig (1/2 - 1 oz.), Minnow (7.5 ", 1/2 - 1 1/2 oz.), Popper, WTD Skipping Lure (max.1 1/2 oz.) . Having a limited budget I was orientated in selecting the very good MHX (which I used for other works). I've picked the blanks but I'm not sure how to center the assigned target. The blanks ones in question are: • SU1085F-2-MHX 9'0 "2 10 - 20 3/4 - 2 1/2 Fast Med-Lt • SA1085-MHX 9'0 "2 12-25 1 / 2-1 3/4 Mod-Fast Heavy • ST1144F-MHX • ST1204F-MHX My choice falls on the first two as the others, the 9 ', 6 "and 10', think them unable to handle the types of lures mentioned above (too light). In my opinion, I think the suitable blank is the SU1085F-2-MHX, is a bit over-sized. What do you think? Thank you for your support Marco Cellini Edited 2 time(s). Marco they are 2 piece
here is confirmed proof directly from rod geeks hope this helps you build a great rod Hi Matt, Thanks for reaching out! Both of those blanks are 2-pieces, split 30/70. Any blank with a "2" at the end of the model number is a 2-piece blank, and all 2-piece surf blanks are split 30/70. I hope this helps! If you're referring to the type of line, Braid may be used even though they only list test weights for mono. If you have any questions e-mail Rod Geeks, I find they are very responsive.
