I am trying to do a Candy apple effect wrap on a wine glass to match a rod. I was having trouble getting the first layer to stay where I put it. It is tough with the taper of the wine glass stem. I used adhesive size, which is a glue for gold foil, and it held the first layer nicely on the tapers. Then I tried to do the Garnet overwrap over the metallic gold without LS epoxy over first layer. Did not work to well. Hard to keep the top layer from settling into the bottom wrap and leaving gaps as you probably all know.
[www.rodbuilding.org] So I at least got the first layer from slipping on the glass stem solved so now I will get the perfect first metallic layer down and apply a thin LS coat over it and then see if the Second layer will grip the LS on the tapers. If not I will try the size to hold the Garnet layer and then final epoxy. Also using a loop and pulling the tag end through the end of the wrap is a little difficult as you are pulling into a smaller taper. I may just tape off the end thread and epoxy to the last wrap and then cut the thread with razor. I have seen this on a video for an angled wrap on the foregrip. Any Ideas or tips? Thanks Rick Re: Wine glass stem wrap

Try using two different diameter threads, than your thread won't fall into the base thread's valleys. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
