Candy apple wrap

I wrapped a test piece yesterday with -Gold,-Old Gold and-Copper metallic threads and put a coat of LS supreme. Today when I get home I am going to wrap the red thread. I have Garnet which I plan on using. I may have a couple other shades of red. Is there a big difference in the affect in the different red colors for the top? Is it worth doing a couple different reds or will the different metallics really make the difference?

Rick

The answers to your questions are maybe and yes, respectively.

People perceive colors differently. What I might see as complementary colors you might think garish.

The only way to be certain the final product will be as you wish, and avoid regret down the road, is to complete the test.

Subtile and Elegance to compliment the red flame gold foil.

There is a big difference between garnet and candy apple. Garnet is a more "elegant" color, sort of between red and wine. Without CP the Gudbrod turns a rich ripe sweet cherry look. I've not done candy apple without CP, but with CP it is a bright red a lttle toward orange. It is very pretty on graphite blanks with gold and blank trim. I've used both Gudbrod and the new Fuji and like them both. Fuji has another red that is more of a true red. If I had to choose one red, it would be candy apple.

you probably already know that you can check the approximate look of a regular thread when CP is not used by doing a test wrap then wetting it with alcohol.

Well I got home and I do not have any other red thread. Only the Garnet. So I did a top layer over the gold, copper and old gold. I put on a thin layer of LS and the gold is the brightest effect. The old gold second and the copper the least amount of color. It is still inside so I have not seen it in sunlight yet. That could change everything. I only covered half of the mettalics so I can order another red thread and add to the experiment.

After reading some older posts I wrapped a section of silver metallic and covered with ls also. Tomorrow I will put the garnet over the silver and see if I like it.

So far though the Gold is the best looking as it is the brightest underneath showing through the Garnet. And since I want to compliment the red flamed gold foil it will probably be the best choice. I may try some gold holo flakes in the LS to enhance the effect.

Looked at the wraps outside. The gold is the most see through of the group as is inside but the Old gold is a little darker and a little more elegant looking I think in the sunlight so as of now I will go with, Garnet no cp over the old gold. I am going to try the Garnet over the silver tomorrow but I think Old gold metallic/Garnet is the look.I will start the rod tomorrow and I also ordered a couple different reds so in the future I may have another combo but for now we are set.

Better with the Old gold under the garnet. No CP to get the candy apple effect.
