life with vague, unquantifiable terms:

I have a fairly long, moderately lite rod I use for horizontal jigging. It has a soulful action and a great feel but one of those little round parts got lost and the holder near where my hand goes is messed up. Should I use thick or thin thread, or maybe some glue to fix it? [with my apologies]

Well done! I count eight vague or unquantified terms in the first sentence. "Soulful action" is the best of the lot.

I think you are in the wrong forum. Based on what I read you need a good shoe repair man to handle any fairly long one. It would not matter is if you do a moderately lite or lightly heavy horizontal jig as long as you are Irish. I am sure he can match a replacement soul without being a heel about it. He would have a good eye & let you have that little roundy part you need. The holder near where your hand goes is called an Aglet. For thread it would depend if you wanted to keep your tongue in your cheek or not, if yes then thick, flat and mono for stretching the truth, it no then any round no stretch braid will do for your imagination.
