My buddy bought a North Fork Pelagic blank #193 I need to build for him. he said he has black widow grips to put on it. I am not familiar with them and cant find much on them. Anyone know anything about them? Kevin Gross Many men will spend their whole life wondering if they made a difference. Marines dont have that problem - Ronald Regan Re: Black Widow handles

It's NFC graphite grip material, includes a nice formed, rounded graphite foregrip. Look on the Edge Rods website. He used to sell them, and I used to be able to buy the materials at Angler's Workshop, but at a price, about a 60% markup over the graphite materials we all use now. Haven't seen it at Angler's Workshop since well before their move to the midwest. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/26/2017 12:58PM by Spencer Phipps. Re: Black Widow handles

It is essentially prepreg strips woven over a core. Reamable.
There's a video on my facebook page with a bit of them at the beginning. [www.facebook.com] Re: Black Widow handles

The Black Widow grip uses a old Wiebe design reel seat so it has a 15 degree offset built into it, and it's a much more blank size conscious design, I couldn't use a blank much over 1/2" diameter because there isn't much material at the trigger. The reel seat's hole is off set to the bottom of the reel seat near the trigger, and the forward part is dead center just like any other reel seat. That means NFC has to have matching holes in the rear grip, near the bottom at the front of the grip and dead center in the back, and than it has to have an angle cut on the grip to match the angle on the rear of the reel seat. So there's a bit more fit and finish work involved than a normal grip. Looks like the spinning reel seat has the same offset to use the same grips.
