It's been a long time since I Have built...I have some items around so I am building a rod for my Brother...I have a super sticker handle kit with wood mid piece...I glued handle & cork...The reel foot is not fitting under the aluminum hood very good...I sanded the wood piece even with the trigger piece and still have problem with the reel foot going under the aluminum piece...any help?

You don't have the aluminum nut on backwards do you? Trigger or spinning? G Loomis and Lamiglas rods used those reel seats for years. I've lots of rods with them and the identical cork mid corks. Is the reel foot resting down on the threaded piece? Had a tight fit on the heavy graphite piece's slot once, a small burr in a Drexel tool opened it a bit so the reel would lay flat and fit the nut.

I hope it's not on backwards...It's a casting rod with trigger...the knurled part of the nut is away from the reel towards the tip...I have not installed the guides yet but I have installed a fore-grip...Looks like there is a little more room under that knurled part of the nut? Which way would the nut need to be installed?

You have it on right than, the knurled end toward the foregrip the side towards the rear of the rod should be undercut to receive the reel foot, the other side straight up and down and it has all the nut's threads in it, the threaded piece installed on the mid piece made of wood with the part with threads to the end up against the mid piece, the side with a small gap lacking threads toward the foregrip. If you are using a reel with a saltwater sized reel foot, they don't fit near as nice as the smaller freshwater sized foot. The one found on all the bass reels, Abu 5500 & 6500, Quantum Cabo PTs, etc., and all the inshore and 300 sized reels I've tried work.

The wood mid-piece was a little higher than the trigger so I sanded the wood down even with the trigger piece...It's a 7 foot worm rod for bass fishing...Don't know what reel he is going to use...should be a low profile bait-caster...I will keep working on it trying to get a better fit...Thanks for your help...
