Part of the issue was the quality of the blanks
The ferrule was wrongly built and they were never right If I start with better blanks and know exactly what I am dealing with straight away that will be a huge help And the course wasn't wasted if I feel that at any time I can repair a guide, rebuild a rod or build a rod I have all the tooling in place Whoever decided to kick me when I was down on this thread: thanks a lot, appreciated, and I hope the moderators ban you If you're so brilliant: a) does that give you the right to belittle a beginner who has just made a really expensive and frustrating major error and b) let's see pictures of your fabulous, masterfully skillful, magical work Re: ABSOLUTELY LIVID

Damn Tommy, chill out!!! I have to agree with Billy. You are taking this too far. It's not the end of the world. If rod building isn't for you move on, it's not for everyone. If you want help ask questions. Builders on this site are telling you it can be fixed, so listen. Good luck. Re: ABSOLUTELY LIVID

Then why are you still here? Most of the guys here are pretty good and free with their advice to help others as you have noted yourself. Billy's a well respected rod builder and there's no need to take out your frustrations on him. I think your own expectations were possibly too high and you seem to want to run before you can walk or crawl even. You sound like an older person and if so should know better. You know what they say about the kitchen, if you cant take the heat........ Anyway, my post may be lost on you if you truly are not going to return. Sorry, you can't reply to this topic.
