Fleabay win and wrap

So, I won a lot of 16 spools, almost all new! Cost $11 shipped, and they were all A thread. Metalics, PacBay, Guderod, and ProWrap. Got 3 spools of Mocha, which I will likely use very little of, so since I only bought D thread, being new to the hobby, I decided to practice!

I love A thread! It looks NICE! But it is a pain to wrap without a power wrapper. Also, I do mostly salt rods, so I suspect it may not be the best size for that, what are your thoughts?

Here are some pics of my VERY first wraps with A thread on a wood dowel

Earl,
Looking very good for a start.

If you want a power wrapper, build one.

There are a lot of sources for parts etc. If you want some help - let me know.

Drop me a line: hflier@comcast.net

Earl

I use a self built lathe and it works out perfectly for my purposes. I found a salvage 1/2hp variable speed motor, a couple of old floor mount bank hold up buttons, used some long scrap aluminum angles and plywood. I sawed my V block support stands out of some scrap boards. It's not very pretty, but it works very well for both wrapping and drying my rods. Take a shot at rolling your own lathe!
