Cutting a cb80h

Good evening gentleman I just sold my last rainshadow cb76h I had today. It was my personal rod and I would like another but only have the rainshadow cb8'0", my question is if I cut 6 from the back of the 8'0" will it be the same as the 7'6" I just sold? Pardon my ignorance but I checked my records and can't find the specs from that blank.

Thanks for your help and time
Tom

Tom,
Your CB76H blank has a .495" butt and a 6 tip, CB80H is .500 and a 6 tip.

Doubtful it's the same blank only cut shorter. Generally different length blanks are made on completely different mandrels, but you could always call and ask.

Tom

Even if you had cb76h and duplicated the build it would not be the same as the original, this I know from personal experience. I purchased 5 same model blanks and before I started to build I checked each one for weight and flexing in a fixture each blank was slightly different. I built two rods with identical components and the feel and performance of the finished product was discernible.
To answer your question, if you cut down the cb8"0 the finished product will not be the same but I think it will be close enough that over time and a lot of fishing any concerns will evaporate..

Cut the blank build your rod and enjoy it.
Good fishing
John
