Cleaning thread

Just finished up a deco wrap, and a couple of the early threads somehow got a small spot of dirt on them. It's not worth redoing, but if there is a good way to clean it off before applying CP, I'm all ears (eyes?).

Do you know what it is?

Nope. I noticed it when I was packing the threads. I washed my hands each time before I started work on the wrap.

My wife suggested dabbing with carpet cleaner on a q-tip.

The problem with Q tips is they tend to leave fuzzies. I can't say if the carpet cleaner will have any stain affect or not being as I have never used it on thread. I would try denatured alcohol on it. It will turn everything dark but dries very fast and all of the thread will return to it's original color and does not leave any residue. As for the applicator I would roll up a white coffee filter (lint free) to form a point. Dip the end of the filter in the alcohol and dab at the spot.

What ever you use, test it first on some of the same thread to see it's effect.

I tried the alcohol approach with rubbing vice DNA. No luck. So I just went ahead and CPed. Oh well. It's for me, and I'm sure the fish won't care (as my wife always tells me) LOL!
