KLH questions?

Hi,
I would like to know two things about the KLH guide concept. 1) I am building a PE2 jigging rod with the reduction guides being 20H, 8H to 6L to 6 runners. On the KR gps it says I need to use a 10H instead of an 8H. Could I get away with using a 8H rather than a 10H? Will there be any problems? 2) I am building another rod which is a rainshadow knife jigging blank 15-30 Lbs in a spinning setup. Would the KLH guides be strong enough for this application or would I need to use a full set of KWs? Thanks. Re: KLH questions?

your set up will work also you would want to test cast before making any wraps
what will make a bit of difference is what line you choose to use braid ,carbon or mono 20 h, 10 h 6m, 6 runners is what I would do but that is just mhop as for the other rod I would use a bit stronger framed guide lead stripper to choke and light runners to tip The best day to be alive is always tomorrow !! Think out side the box when all else fails !!! Wi. Re: KLH questions?

Agree with Matthew regarding line. Today I think it is imperative to consider line plans when setting up a spinning rod if your intent is to have the most sensitive, lightest, rod. You can build with the idea that the rod will handle any reasonable line, but if you only plan on using fairly light braid , then you will have built a heavier, less sensitive rod than what would work well with the planned line. I wouldn't use the KL-H guides on the knife jigging blank, if for no other reason then they are less durable being stored, transported, and placed in rod racks, or tubes in a saltwater environment where thing seem to get banged around more, if for no other reasons than wind and waves. I myself have never used that high a framed single foot guide on any blank approaching the power you mentioned. Myself I wouldn't try anything heavier than 12 lb. line with the KL-H guides. If you do use KW guides on your knife jigging rod, here is a blog by Jim Ising dealing with KW reduction guide groupings based on height. [anglersresource.net]
For running guides you could use either double ft KW or single ft KT/KB guides. Norm Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
