Does anyone know anyone who might have CCS data or comparison data on store brand bass rods? I am not sure if I can say the name of the store but it is one of the most recognized, starts with Ca........ ?
I am looking for a similar blank to one of theirs. Customer is upset due to that company no longer making one of his favorite rods any longer and is looking for something that feels the same. I looked at the CCS database but it's all fly rods. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: CCS Data on Store bought bass rods?

take the specs from one of his rods that he favors and do some comparison shopping for a blank that matches it or is with in the spec with that you should be able to find a blank with power and action to suit his wants &needs. The best day to be alive is always tomorrow !! Think out side the box when all else fails !!! Wi. Re: CCS Data on Store bought bass rods?

As Mathew mentioned, getting a blank that has the same lure weight and line weight ratings should at least put you in the ball park. The problem comes with the named action of the rod. One manufactures fast etc. action may vary from another manufacturers.
I'd suggest getting the rod he wants you to match from him, and perform the CCS yourself. It's simple enough, and that way you know exactly what you're looking for. The problem is going to be finding the CCS numbers for blanks you may want to consider. I'll be honest and say I haven't done much in depth looking for CCS numbers for the various blanks I've built on, but the only manufacturer I've used that makes their CCS data easy to find is Pac Bay. It was easy to find the CCS data for their Quickline blanks. It's right there in their catalog. II've built on several Rainshadow blanks and while I haven't looked hard for CCS data from them for their blanks, it may be somewhere on the web, it's just not linked to any of their pages in their catalog. At least not that I've seen. BTW the Quickline blanks are outstanding blanks. Oh and on another message board forum I belong to I've heard people state that the Ca store you mention (if it's the one I think it is) uses Loomis blanks for their store branded rods. Whether that's true or not, I don't know. Based on the price of this store's rods, I kind of doubt they're Loomis blanks, but who knows? Edited 1 time(s). If the Ca is the one I'm thinking of it's been a very long time since they bought Loomis blanks. We're talking when G. Loomis became a reality they were his first big order. G Loomis has made blanks for many companies over the years, that doesn't make them Loomis blanks, they are on the mandrels developed by the end user, using materials of their choosing. I have CCS data on my customer's rod. That is exactly the issue. I cannot seem to find CCS data on other blanks. Also, this blank is quite whippy, as if it has a lot of glass scrim in it. It seems to be a lower end model, making it more difficult since the customer is not willing to go to a higher modulas blank at this time. He may just be out of luck to find an exact match.
Thanks Everyone. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: CCS Data on Store bought bass rods?

I've got some CC info on gear rods, what your specs and I'll look. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
