Blank recommendation

Hey everyone,
Looking for a blank for fishing with a dipsey diver for salmon on the Great Lakes.

Right now I am using a 9'6" Shimano Talora, medium fast, medium heavy and I will be using 50# braid.

I build rods because I like to fish with lures, flies, rods, whatever I can make or make better.

That being said, these rods don't need to be sensitive, they don't necessarily need to be light. They need to be tough and not very expensive. Frankly the only improvement I can make is spiral wrapping.

I am looking for 9'-10', 9'6" or 10' preferred.

The only thing I have found is a Pac Bay Rainforest RF2SP10852, 9', fast, medium heavy and the price is right. It is listed as spinning but, I don't think that should cause any issues.

Anybody know of any other choices?

As always, thanks for the help, Doug

See you on the water, Doug

Talk with the good people at Batson about their RDR blanks, or Utmost maybe also, both to the left.

Depends a bit on the size of the diver’s you’re using but we’d recommend the following RainShadow Rod Blanks:

RX4 BP1146 & BP1266 - [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com]

RX6 / E-Glass RDR96MH - [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com]

RX6 / E-Glass RCLB810L - [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com]

RX7 ISA1266 - [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com]

Take a look at the MHX musky and surf casting series. I have used them for wire diver rods. Perfect action and power. The Batson RDR blanks work, but, they will take a very deep bend with a mag diver, which can make it tough to clear around a rigger, especially on a strike. Email me, I'll send you some photos of each blank pulling a mag diver with wire.
