Hi guys,
I'm fairly new to the forum and this is my first post. I just want to say this forum is great. I've been fishing the great lakes (Georgian bay mostly) for a long time now and decided to take on my first build this past winter. Everything went great. I didn't do anything special but the whole process was almost like therapy for me. I was always an art kid growing up but found myself building homes right out of high school to this day. My grades sucked and some would say I was a bit of a trouble maker.. My wife would say I still am. But this rod building thing has me man, I'm obsessed. I dream about it. I don't know if any of you guys went through this when you first started building rods, maybe im a bit crazy. who knows. But I wanted to put this out there too you guys.. I need names of people I can look up online. Youtube vids, websites, whatever you can give me so I can keep learning and reading/watching. I've stumbled across some amazing work out there on the web and I need more. More advanced stuff. Billy V's work blows me away. I dealt with Andy Snedden for my first build and he dealt with me and was patient and helped me out when I was trying to figure things out in the beginning. Thanks andy. So give me what you got and I'll take the time to study it. You all definitely have a passion for what you do and I totally get it. Hope to here from you Scott Edited 1 time(s). you can go to U tube and plug in any rod building thing and get a multitude of videos on the subject line wraps diamond, trim bands load testing handle assembly guide placement how to wrapping lathes, finishing finishes , thread types/ selection, types of guides /& selection, cork turn vs eva grips, and turning them reaming them. and the best place to find info is right here in the library and all the members of the forum The best day to be alive is always tomorrow !! Think out side the box when all else fails !!! Wi. Re: Obssessed

" I was always an art kid growing up but found myself building homes right out of high school to this day"
Scott, I am the same way as far building things. I have to make something that works to complete my own self. I started making surfboards and kind of grew out of it then as I got older started fly rods then conventional bait casters and spinning rods. It fit into the surfboard thing and saltwater. Not sure if it is an obsession, a passion or an addiction. I will make rods and don't even care about selling them as long as they work and perform the way I want them to. Lance Re: Obssessed

Advanced Custom Rod Building
Dale P. Clemens, though he's past away, I've had his book since it was first published in 1979, It's still in my library today and I refer to it often. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
