I mark the resin bottle and syringe with color tape so there is no mix up I load both syringes and shoot them in cup at same time to help mix and no mistakes. Re: Eliminating Epoxy Mixing Issues

As stated earlier, I employ pumps to assist in precisely measuring the WEIGHT of larger quantities of structural epoxies. I admit I am unfamiliar with accurate pumps for smaller batches of wrap finish. Personally, I would never trust a pump to provide a precisely equal amount with each pump due to a possible air bubble or inconsistent stroke for a VOLUME APPLICATION but they are great for measuring by WEIGHT where only a few drops can be added at a time. But as said by myself and others as well, “Whatever works for you”. Again, allow me to stress possibly the most important issue to avoid problems while mixing epoxy; CONSISTANCY, each and every time. That being (re)said, I really like John D’s contribution, especially #10. Mark Talmo FISHING IS NOT AN ESCAPE FROM LIFE BUT RATHER A DEEPER IMMERSION INTO IT!!! I agree John's information is dead on solid. Re: Eliminating Epoxy Mixing Issues

I mix with syringes all the time for some times as little as a total mix of 1cc. The only way to have issues is to mix the same part in twice by accident. It seems as careful as you may be it still happens now and then. Re: Eliminating Epoxy Mixing Issues

24 posts on mixing finish. I never realized rodbuilding had so much to do with brain surgery. Re: Eliminating Epoxy Mixing Issues

Especially when it is a simple as mix equal parts of A and B, stir adequately and apply. Pure rocket science Ron Weber Re: Eliminating Epoxy Mixing Issues

Although the use of epoxy rod finish is perhaps the simplest thing involved in custom rod building, it continues to be the single most problematic aspect of the craft for many builders. For years attendees of the Expo wanted me to do a seminar on finishing with epoxy. I resisted because I saw little value in a 5-minute seminar. In 2015 I relented and presented one. The actual "how-to" of the seminar took about, 5 minutes. The question I was asked by most is, "Is that all you do?" I remain convinced that many builders simply attempt to do too much when it comes to working with epoxy wrap finish.

I do epoxy presentations all the time, and it's the same thing, I will go into detail about various finishes, dispel all the myths, cover CP, brushes, pros cons of everything. After an hour of talking and Q&A, the last 5 minutes is actually doing it. The single biggest problem with epoxy and rd builders is that everyone is looking fo the magic canswer, when the only thing they can do to figure it out is to actually send time doing it, over and over until thye figure out the method that works best for them. THats' why tehre are so many answers when people ask questions, which only leads to confusion because a lot of it is conflicting - and none of it matters becasue the only way to figure it out is to do it. Over and over. Re: Eliminating Epoxy Mixing Issues

[www.samsclub.com] I use syringes, 2 different sizes 3cc and 10cc color coded to match resin and hardener. When mixing paste epoxy I use a gram scale and weigh each portion on a piece of foil. don't think I'll need to buy mixing stuff again. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
