If you have a black x-wrap fore-grip with a smooth black metal winding check with thread work in front of it, where do you stop applying epoxy? on the thread just touching the beginning of the winding check? up onto the winding check covering it but not touching the x-wrap? Or all the way up on the winding check just touching the x-wrap?
I've built thread ramps before at the end of the x-wrap and also used rubber winding checks with epoxy going all the way to the x-wrap without any problem, but I'm not sure what would look and function the best when using a metal winding check. Re: Epoxy & Metal Winding Check

I put epoxy on the winding checks because they will corrode in saltwater. It helps protect them but I usually use cork grips. I don't think it will be any different with shrink wrap. Re: Epoxy & Metal Winding Check

Hello Robert.
I'm with Lance if you are using the rod in salt water, epoxy the check, if not do as looks good to you. Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines. Bob, New Bern, NC. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
