American Tackle rod wrapper/dryer parts help needed (Solved)
Posted by: Lawrence Hale (---.direcway.com)

I have an older American Tackle rod wrapper/dryer that needs a new drive belt that is approximately 4 1/2" in diameter. I've tried ordering the part from various sources. They only list a "large O ring" which is roughly half the size of the part I'm looking for. Can someone tell me what the correct part name is and a source?

Thanks in advance.

Lawrence,
If you have the pieces of old belt, and or if you can take a string and run it around the places where you need the belt, go to your local hardware store, to the plumbing department and pick up an O ring of the correct size.

Go home and try it out. If it is the correct size, go back and pick up two or three more so that you always have a spare.

But, generally speaking an O ring from a plumbing department will generally be the perfect belt for this style wrapper with this style pulley.

p.s.
If you purchase a silicone ring, it will almost never age or fail on you.

Good luck

Sometimes you can find a vacuum cleaner belt that will work. Easily found at local grocers or wal marts.

Thanks to all for your great suggestions. The blue, big box hardware store had an exact replacement.

I use a fuel filter o ring from a ford 6.0 diesel. Its silicone and will last forever. And no i don't get contamination.
