Dragon scale wrap help

Hey all
I love the look and simplicity of dragon scale wrap. However I am having difficulty with small gaps forming as I wrap the metallic thread over the joint tape. I am taking the tape and cutting it to a 1" - 1 1/2" strip and spiraling it up the blank. Then I over wrap with the machine but a lot of gaps form. Has anyone had this problem as well?

you have to go a little at a time and pack it as you go

Ditch the tape. Use C thread and square spacing to start. Keep dividing the squares in half until you have the size scale you want and overwrap with A.

I havent had any issues using the mesh tape. You just have to take your time using a hand wrapper. I tape off the section I want the wrap to be. I then spiral the mesh tape in the section making sure that the mesh tape overlaps the tape that marks off the section. I then tape the ends of the mesh tape so it wont come off. Wrap the section, packing as I go. I then put some CP on the ends before I put my overwrap on either end. Is that a norma practice? Works for me, just not sure what everyone else does.

That works. You'll get better definition using C under and A over, and the size scale you want.
