Yeah, warm it up in the microwave for 15 or 20 seconds and stir.
Try that to start and repeat if necessary. Regards Dave Fishing is Life the rest is just Details Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/09/2017 01:20PM by Dave Orr. Re: Rod Bond one half dry

Warm up the solid finish in the microwave. But, rather than 15-20 seconds, heat with 4-5 second intervals. You want it just hot enough to liquify the material. You don't want to boil the mixture.

Because the larger jars have so much volume I tend to use the pan of very hot water trick to accomplish the same. Although it's going to take a good while longer.

This has happened to me on a couple of occations. Basically the resin has crystallized, but that is not a problem, it is similar to rod finish epoxy resin crystallizing. If you heat the entire container it will soften up, but it may recrystallize again. The easiest thing to do is scoop out what you want to use heat with a hair dyer for a few seconds then mix it with the hardener, it will work just fine and will save you some time in the long run.

Pop the rod crystallized rod finish with the top off the container, into the microwave that is on the corner of the rod building bench and set it for 5 seconds, repeat if the first 5 seconds do not clear the mix. Repeat a 3rd or 4th time if necessary.
But, heat only in 5 second intervals. You do not want to boil the finish and most of the time, a 5 second burst of microwaves will clear the problem. If it happens again, another 5 second visit to the microwave will clear it up again. Be safe Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
