I bought some rod covers from bps for my spinning rods that I built, with microwave guides, the cover is for 6-6.6 rods, but they dont fit over the guide closest to the reel. Can someone point to the ones that will fit.

thank you

Try @#$%&, pay attention to diameter, they usually offer two sizes, one about 30 mm , the other 45 mm which will cover size 30 spinning guides, just barely. They don't always list size in the item description, but when you go to order, some offer the two sizes.

Terry,
Go to your nearby material and fabric store.
Pick out the fabric that you like.

As long as you are there, pick up a sewing machine.

Take the fabric home and sew up the rod covers.

If you are in the Twin Cities, stop by and I will give you one of my spare sewing machines.

Be safe

Terry,
The other thing that you can do, is to use a pair of scissors and put a slit up the rod cover until you are past the first guide.

Then, put the cover on the rod. Everything will be covered except for the stripper guide.

Or, after you have slit the cover up to the stripper guide, just take a piece of material to enlarge the cover from just past the stripper guide to the opening in the cover.

If you were close, I would be happy to do that for you.

Good luck

Maybe i could get the neoprene ones and do that to enlarge it. Would probably work ok. There is a seamstress across town.
Thanks for an idea to try. I only have a couple rods with them on so wouldnt be to haed for her to do.

Come on guys, these things cost about $4 apiece, and they are different from the old cloth covers. These are sort of rigid and sort of flexible, they easily go onto the rods without grabbing the guides, and the rod slips out of them easily from the tubes in boats, leaving the protector in the tube if you're careful in pulling the rod.. Just find the ones that are 45 mm and the right length and part with about $25 for about a half dozen. Then it's done.

Michael,
I assume that you are speaking of the chinese finger grip style covers that work well and will fit many different sized rods?

If the tubular, expandable, protective, plastic netting is what you are looking for, Try Uline. They have just about any diameter you would ever need, plus you get to pick the color. You may have to purchase 144ft for about $50.00, but you and your buddies / customers will have an almost lifetime supply.

Terry, What or who is BPS? If you are looking for the expandable nylon type cover, like a "Stix Jacket" You can buy a number of diameters and lengths even a 100 foot roll, (which is what I have done) from a web site called "wire ties and more". I bought a 100 foot roll and can cut to any length I want. Most all of my rod now have a nice protective cover. I use an elecltric knife to cut to the desired length. If you cut with a blade it will fray out over time.
