Hello all, Need some opinions on the best way to cut Parachute cord. Have tried hot knife, razor blades and exacto knifes. The hot knife leaves burnt reside, but does not fray Both razor and exacto knife tend to fray after cutting. I did try applying some thread sealer/color pres. and letting dry before cutting with some success

Is the cord going to be an open end or tucked? Open ended, Ive had success rolling the section I want to cut in heated rod tip glue, and cut in the middle carefully using a sharp knife or razor. Then dip the end in more rod tip glue.

I cut most poly or braided nylon cord with a razor blade and then take it to a bit of heat to melt the fray and shape the glop on the end to the same as the rest of the cord and if the ends are hidden why worry about it being a bit burnt .

I tightly tape the point I want to cut, then cut through the tape, superglue the end then un-tape it, you could use some other kind of adhesive if you wish, I just like the superglue.

I use a hot knife and just touch up any residue. Easy and quick.

Dr. Slick fishing pliers have a very sharp set of blades on the top; they cut braid like butter. You probably need an excuse to buy the Dr. Slick anyway, so give it a try.
